Make Labor Pay!
It has been 0 days since Israel began it’s assault on Gaza. The death toll exceeds 30,000 civilians, including 12,000 children.
“Gaza is becoming a graveyard for children.”
– António Guterres, 🇺🇳 United Nations Secretary General – 7 November 2023
The list of war crimes commited by Israel grows by the hour:
- Collective punishment [1]
- Indiscriminate targeting of civilians [2]
- Attacks on protected sites such as hospitals, schools and places of worship [3]
- Targeted attacks on journalists [4]
- Forced population transfer [5]
- Israeli government officals have openly announced their intention to commit ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza.
Australians of all political persuasions have called on the Labor Government to clearly and uneqivocally condemn Israeli aggression and call for an immediate ceasfire.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have stubbornly refused to heed these calls.
Instead they have cravenly parrotted the United States’ cynical calls for “humanitarian pauses”. They have refused to clearly condemn Israeli war crimes, embarrasing Australia on the global stage by abstaining from a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for an end to the violence. They have repeatedly used “both-sides” language that fails to recognise Israeli aggression as the main threat to peace and innnocent life in Palestine.
The Australian Government has ignored the wishes of the majority of Australian’s and cast us as morally complicit in Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Not. Good. Enough.
The next Australian federal election will be held in 2025. No matter who you vote for, your vote will send a message to the Labor Party. The message they receive will depend on how you vote. Here are your choices:
Vote Labor
Tell Labor they can ignore you and still get your vote.
Don’t vote Labor
Tell Labor that if they ignore you, they lose your vote.
At the next election, send the right message. Make Labor Pay!
Frequently asked questions
- Are you a Liberal Party shill?
- No. Vote for whoever you like at the next election – Green, Independent, Teal – it’s up to you. But remember, a vote for Labor tells them that there’s no harm in ignoring you.
- Are you a Greens shill?
- No. See the answer above.
- I’m a union member, I always vote Labor.
- Has Labor shown any respect for the union movement on this issue? While the health, teaching, maritime and other unions have been protesting and asking their government to call for a ceasefire, have they heeded your call? How will Labor learn to respect its base if they can count on your vote no matter what?
- My local Labor MP has called for a ceasefire.
- Unless your local MP is the Prime Minister or Foreign Minister, Australia’s position remains tacit support of Israeli war crimes.
- If I don’t vote Labor, Liberal will win and I don’t like them.
- If Labor wins, it will reinforce their view that they can ignore you and still count on your vote. This election cycle is where they will learn the lessons of this past month.
- I will vote Labor, then work to change the party from the inside.
- Plenty of rank and file Labor members are asking the government to call for a ceasfire to no avail. Send a message in the only language political parties understand, via the ballot box.
